Privacy & Data Use Policies

The Paul B. Beeson Career Development Awards in Aging Research/AFAR website provides information on the issues and policies surrounding healthy aging and medical research in this area, and seeks to engage users in a dialog with the program and each other about this information. Throughout the site, users are asked to provide us with their opinions and other feedback. The information that users share with us is treated with respect and concern for privacy.

Users may read most information on our site anonymously — we do not keep cookies (except for session cookies used to help you fill in forms) you don't know about. Certain areas of our site are available only to registered users.

Registered Users
When users register to have access to these areas, they must provide their email address and a name; all other information is optional but certainly appreciated. No email addresses are ever sold or shared with third parties. In addition, registered users can choose what sorts of email they would like to receive from us. Users can change their preferences and remove their email from our list at any time through a form on our site.

Voluntary Feedback
The site includes a number of surveys, forms, and other interactive pieces. Optional fields are clearly indicated. The data we collect from these pieces helps us to identify our audience in general terms and sometimes contributes to research findings — if the data has a purpose other than helping us manage our website, it will be clearly stated.

Use of Personal Information
No personal information will ever be sold or shared with any third party; aggregate data may be used at our discretion, and generalized demographic information may be collected from users' voluntary submissions.

Link Policy
It is our intent to provide a variety of information for our visitors; when other websites have information that would be of interest to our users, links are provided.
