Neil A. Segal, MD Associate Professor Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation
University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine
Dr. Neil Segal is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa. He also serves patients with low back, hip, and knee pain at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and serves as medical director of the Amputee and Prosthetics Clinic at the Iowa City Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital.
Dr. Segal’s Beeson research will focus on the effects of gait training and power training interventions on muscle pathology, impairments in lower limb power, mobility limitations, knee-specific disability, and quality of life. The results of this work will lead to more effective rehabilitation and will help to identify which community-dwelling older adults with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis will be most likely to benefit. The goal of his research is to advance understanding of risk and treatment for knee osteoarthritis and to reduce disablement of older adults with knee osteoarthritis.
Dr. Segal completed his medical training at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
