Jeremy D. Walston, M.D.
Jeremy Walston, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a board certified Geriatrician and Internist and is the Medical Director of the Terrace Rehabilitation Unit, a 26 bed acute and sub-acute rehabilitation unit located in the Johns Hopkins Geriatrics Center that specializes in the care of frail, older adults.
Dr. Walston’s research focus is on age-related changes in body composition and particularly on the geriatric syndrome of frailty. He recently participated in the development, validation, and publication of a new method to classify older adults by degree of frailness. Using this exam to identify subjects, he continues to develop a research program that examines the physiologic and molecular etiologies of frailty. His long-range research goal is to translate these findings into improved means of treatment and prevention of frailty in older adults.
Dr. Walston received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, followed by a primary care internal medicine residency and Geriatrics Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He has received several awards for his research efforts including the American Geriatrics Society’s New Investigator Award, a Pfizer/AGS post-doctoral fellowship award, and a Brookdale National Fellowship.
